Situation

  • Montrose provided technical support in the selection of a service provider to design a mobile phone health package.
  • Given the shortage of software programmers in Uganda, Malaria Consortium requested Montrose to identify and carry out comprehensive due diligence on potential software companies that could design a mobile phone app for collecting health data at the community level.

Solution

  • Montrose carried out a scoping of the local market in Uganda and identified a range of potential software developers.
  • Terms of reference were developed detailing the technical steps required for the development of a health data mobile phone app.
  • Software developers were then invited to bid for the work. Subsequent due diligence was carried out on short-listed suppliers before final award of contract.

Impact

  • A contract was awarded in Uganda and a mobile phone app was developed for collecting health data in the community.
