Following earlier scoping work carried out by Montrose for our client (a major mining company), we were requested to prepare a detailed project design that would improve access to quality health care for local employees, their dependents and the surrounding community.
In addition, there was a need to identify options for improving the referral system for complicated cases.
Solution
Montrose was contracted to carry out a detailed renovation plan of a nearby health centre, identify health systems strengthening opportunities including for the referral system, and formulate a public private partnership.
Montrose fielded a multi-disciplinary team that had expertise in public health, public private partnerships, health systems strengthening, architecture and structural engineering.
Impact
The work included:
Detailed architectural drawing for the renovation and building works.
Estimation of bills of quantity and costing to renovate the maternity health centre and other associated building works.
A capacity development plan for the maternity health centre staff including on health centre management, case management, medicine supply management and accounting.
The design of a secure payment system for health services that would be provided by the maternity health centre to the mining company’s staff and families.
A road map for a public private partnership between the Catholic Diocese, the Ministry of Health and the mining company including a draft memorandum of understanding and a defined exit strategy.
