Montrose successfully implemented a project aimed at improving the vaccine cold chain system in Equatorial Guinea.
Solution
Montrose assessed and resolved existing problems with the existing cold chambers, including procurement of equipment, renovation of facilities housing the chambers and training of health personnel in maintenance of the cold chambers.
Montrose undertook training needs assessment for health workers on cold chain and vaccine management, and designed and implemented appropriate training programmes to enhance health workers’ ability to effectively manage the vaccines through the immunisation programmes.
As part of the training programme, Montrose designed training materials, and undertook support supervision and on-the-job training.
Impact
Montrose actively engaged with key stakeholders at national, regional and local levels to encourage ownership over the maintenance and use of the cold chambers and more broadly the cold chain system in Equatorial Guinea.
