Responsible, Accountable and Transparent Enterprise (RATE) is a £30.3m programme implemented over six years (2014-2020).
The programme focuses on businesses’ social and environmental risk management, and transparency and accountability of private sector companies.
It supports various organisations that strengthen the measurement, reporting and improvement of environmental and social safeguards.
Accountability includes:
Taking poor women and men’s views into account.
Acknowledging social and environmental responsibilities.
Addressing obligations to provide remedies.
Solution
Montrose will:
Review progress achieved between 1 June 2018 and 31 May 2019 according to DFID guidelines.
Assess progress against programme outputs and outcomes.
Complete a desk-based review of reports, programme documents and annual reports produced by RATE partners.
Review DFID programme management arrangements, including cross-country coordination.
Design a method for gathering inputs from beneficiaries (e.g. companies, workers).
Impact
Impact will be achieved as a consequence of the effects that changes in business behaviour have on people.
Specialist organisations working in standards, reporting and joint work have gained the acceptance of many companies, and are extending their relationships to have greater reach and influence.
The Annual Review will provide an overview of the quality of monitoring, learning and evaluations and will identify any gaps that need to be addressed.
The Annual Review provides an opportunity to ensure that all learning and evidence is available for the final Project Completion Review.
