Allene Lisanework Woldemariam is the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Lead for the DFID-funded Climate-Resilient Water and Sanitation programme in Ethiopia. He has over 20 years of professional experience in monitoring and evaluation, surveys/studies, impact assessments, data analysis and data quality assurance in both development and humanitarian contexts with a list of major donor-funded (DFID, USAID etc.) projects/international organisations/NGOs and UN agencies such as UN FAO, UNDP, International Food Policy Research Institute, World Economic Forum, World Vision, JSI, FHI 360, Child Fund, as well as with the public sector (Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia) and private sector.
Allene has extensive experience in designing and implementing/managing MEL systems, project evaluations, operational research and quantitative studies in the areas of health, nutrition, education, WASH, and food security and livelihoods.
He has technical expertise in several areas including food security issues in agricultural and pastoral development contexts, youth and women’s economic empowerment, local economic development strategies, processes that foster inclusiveness and value chain development, and capacity building.
Allene has an MSc in Demography/Population Studies, Addis Ababa University (College of Development Studies), Ethiopia, and a BA in Geography, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. He is fluent in Amharic and English.
